This policy explains what personal information Amuse Network (“we”, “us”) collects when you use amuse-network.com, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. We are based in Ontario, Canada, and we handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to visitors in Europe and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation.

- You can read this site without giving us your name or an email address.
- We collect analytics about how pages are used, and our host keeps standard server logs.
- We ask for personal information only when you send us a message, leave a comment or subscribe.
- We do not sell personal information, and we never have.
- You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Email correspondence — your email address, your name if you supply it, and the contents of your message.
- Comments — the display name, email address and comment text you submit, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, which WordPress records to help detect spam. Your email address is not published; your display name and comment are.
- Newsletter subscription, if we operate one — your email address and the date of your consent.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs — our hosting provider records IP address, request time, the page requested, referring page, user-agent and response code. These are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics — aggregate information about pages viewed, approximate region, device type and referral source. We configure analytics to avoid collecting information that identifies you individually where the tool allows it.
- Cookies and similar technologies — described in our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information, and we ask that you do not send them to us.
Why we collect it
Under PIPEDA we must identify the purposes for collection. Ours are: to publish and operate the site; to reply to your messages; to moderate comments and prevent spam and abuse; to understand in aggregate which articles are useful so we can decide what to write next; to send a newsletter where you have asked for one; to keep the site secure; and to comply with legal obligations.
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are consent (newsletters, non-essential cookies), legitimate interests (site security, spam prevention, aggregate analytics) and legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that operate the site on our behalf, and only to the extent they need it. These typically include our web host, an email provider, an analytics provider, a comment anti-spam service and, if a newsletter is running, a mailing provider. They are permitted to process the information only for the purposes we specify.
Some of these providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. Personal information stored in another country is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and law enforcement. We take reasonable contractual and technical steps to protect it.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or to protect the safety of a person. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own independent use.
How long we keep it
- Email correspondence — up to 24 months after the exchange ends, unless it relates to a legal or financial record.
- Comments and their metadata — for as long as the comment remains published, unless you ask for removal.
- Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we do not email you again.
- Server logs — a short rolling window set by our host, typically no more than 12 months.
Your rights
You may ask us to: confirm whether we hold personal information about you and give you access to it; correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete; delete information we no longer need; withdraw a consent you previously gave; or, where GDPR applies, restrict or object to processing and receive a portable copy.
Write to [email protected]. We will acknowledge within five business days and respond within thirty days, as PIPEDA requires. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EU or UK.
Email and CASL
Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation governs commercial electronic messages sent to Canadian recipients. We send a newsletter only to people who have asked for it, every message identifies us and includes a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribe requests are actioned promptly and in any case within ten business days.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is limited to the people who need it and is protected by strong authentication. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet — but if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner as PIPEDA requires.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

Articles link to external sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before providing them with information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. Where a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will post a notice on the site.
